CONSTRUCTION


Construction defense litigation represents a major area of our firm’s practice. As a result, we have experience managing construction defect claims and defending lawsuits arising out of construction site accidents resulting in personal injury, death, or property damage. We have represented architects, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and their insurers in cases involving structural defects, jobsite injuries, mold and chemical contaminations, mechanical defects, and the like. Throughout our practice, we have represented every major construction trade.

Our attorneys have also routinely addressed claims for breach of contract, warranty, negligence, fraud, strict liability, and violation of building codes. Additionally, we have extensive experience representing insurers in coverage disputes arising out of construction litigation claims. Our attorneys have also defended manufacturers of construction and industrial equipment. We have experience working with engineers, consulting firms, union representatives, OSHA experts, and vocational and economic experts who are utilized in defending construction cases.

TRUCKING & TRANSPORTATION


Transportation and trucking companies face a myriad of legal challenges in the course of their daily operations and have increased exposure for personal injury, regulatory, and safety actions. The attorneys at LaBarge, Campbell, Lyon & Kahan have worked in trucking and transportation litigation for over twenty-five years, and it currently represents a significant portion of our practice. The attorneys at LaBarge, Campbell, Lyon & Kahan have successfully represented a wide range of clients in product liability lawsuits for claims involving design and manufacturing defects, failure to warn, product misuse, and product tampering. In addition to our expert legal counsel, we have a broad understanding of the engineering, scientific and technological aspects of product liability actions due to our extensive experience defending automotive products, building materials, chemicals, construction products, consumer products, foods, furniture, hazardous materials, industrial machinery, manufacturing and processing equipment, medical devices, medications, small appliances and electronics.

We handle every size of case, from individual actions alleging single exposures to mass individual filings and national class action filings. In addition, we have extensive experience defending toxic tort cases such as asbestos and mold actions.

The Products Liability Division at LaBarge, Campbell, Lyon & Kahan is headed by Partners Shimon B. Kahan and Bruce Lyon. Mr. Lyon has handled over 1,000 open files for a major asbestos manufacturer and has coordinated the national defense of asbestos litigation for two major railroads.

ASBESTOS & TOXIC TORTS


The firm has extensive experience representing asbestos manufacturers, distributors, and end use users. Bruce W. Lyon has coordinated the national defense of asbestos litigation for two major railroads and has handled over 1,000 open files in the northern half of Illinois for a major asbestos manufacturer. The firm has also represented clients in chemical exposure and chemical release cases including class action litigation.
